Haven Physiotherapy

Amy (she/her) graduated from the Master of Physical Therapy program at UBC in 2012 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at Simon Fraser University. Dance has been a big part of her life from a young age and sparked a lifelong interest in movement and the human body, ultimately leading her on the path to becoming a physiotherapist.

She discovered pelvic floor physiotherapy after developing pubic symphysis pain, pelvic organ prolapse, and stress incontinence with her two pregnancies and deliveries. This firsthand experience motivated her to make a significant career shift and pursue her passion for pelvic health, which is now her primary area of practice. Amy has since completed numerous courses in pelvic health, prenatal and postpartum care. She finds it especially rewarding to help clients with pelvic pain and other persistent pain conditions.

Previously, she worked for many years with clients with neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and Parkinson’s disease, helping to improve their function and quality of life. She is also one of few physiotherapists in the Lower Mainland trained to treat facial nerve palsies such Bell’s Palsy and Ramsay-Hunt Syndrome. These experiences have greatly influenced her treatment philosophy of considering the whole body and the whole person through a biopsychosocial lens.

Amy is a lifelong learner and also works part-time at Diane Lee & Associates in South Surrey, where she is receiving mentorship in the Integrated Systems Model (ISM).
