Exciting update for the ISM Series for Ripley UK England. We have moved a lot more of the theoretical material online for home study and reduced the in person time to 10 days from 13.5. This means less expense all round for a similar educational experience. You can also choose to join us for one of the parts only; however, if you choose this option you will not be part of the online forum group that supports each other between the parts.
Tuition for both Parts 1 & 2
$4825 Canadian funds. This fee is broken down as follows:
In class portion: $3575 CAD for 10 days of in class/in person learning
Online lectures/reference articles support: $1100 CAD for approximately 30 hours of online lectures and articles support with no time limit availability after the course
Forum chat room support: $150 CAD forum support. For the time between the two parts of your course you will have online access to a private chat forum which is monitored by Diane. Here, your group will share case reports, and you will provided feedback as will Diane. All your questions answered while you integrate this material into clinical practice. When do you ever get this much help when attending a course?
After completion of this ISM Series you will be eligible to purchase what has been eliminated to make this a 2-part ISM Series. What’s that? The articular system. There are 8 hours more of online lectures pertaining only to the articular system (osteo and arthrokinematics for assessment and mobilization techniques). There will be a small additional fee for this course and it is optional.
The ISM Series is not a short course, when you do both parts there is clinical mentorship and this makes a huge difference.
Tuition for one part – your choice
$2400 Canadian funds. This fee is broken down as follows:
In class portion: $1950 CAD for 5 days of in class/in person learning
Online lectures/reference articles support: $450 CAD for approximately 18 hours of online lectures and articles support with no time limit availability after the course
Part 1: ISM for the thorax, lumbar spine, pelvis & hips
Part 2/3: This course is a blend of Parts 2 & 3 of the full 3 part ISM Series and considers ISM for the upper thorax, neck, cranium, shoulder girdle, knee, foot and ankle.
How can I do this in 2 parts? By removing the articular system from part 2 & 3 and providing it as a separate online course with home study. This material is only available though if you do both Part 1 and 2-3.

Series Feedback
We asked past participants a series of questions regarding clinical mentorship in the Integrated Systems Model. Here’s what they had to say:
What is the value of the in person portion of this course?
“The in person course is simply amazing. It’s a unique opportunity to see how Diane practices and clinically reasons. She has years of clinical experience and international research and she definitely lives what she teaches. It’s so important to have mentors in our journey to help people, I know and am thankful for choosing to take the wonderful and rare opportunity to learn by real life example of Diane’s clinical knowledge. Being in the classroom and have her brainstorm with you, correct you, learn in a kinesthetic and not just theoretical way – is an irreplicable opportunity for a physiotherapist and definitely a stepping stone in one’s practical knowledge growth.”
“This course had more thought provoking and useful techniques than I anticipated. If you have a solid manual therapy background, but sometimes find yourself struggling with a patient with “traveling pains” or something that just won’t settle – do it ! You need this. The Physiotherapy profession needs this. This is clinical reasoning beyond what you have grasped before. We need to look at motor patterns and mechanics more deeply than we have before Compensations that have built up in the tissues over time, causing vectors of pull that are much further than you had dared to venture – but it’s time to recognize these influences to help our patients resolve their issues. This course made me think differently about fascia in a way I never have before. This time together was a fantastic group collaboration, group learning, helping each other to find biomechanical solutions that I would not have dreamt of. I have solved pelvic pain working on a clavicle, looked at cranial motion that was changing diaphragm function. There are connections you have not imagined and this course will help you find them. It is clearly a huge amount of information. There is a video provided for nearly every technique, so that you can watch in advance, refine in the in person part, and go back to put it into practice. The work I accomplished is easily worth six courses. It will change your practice immensely! Super support. I was so pleased with the positive learning environment that Diane fostered. It was deliberate and effective.”
“Incredibly good value with regards to the lectures, discussion of case studies and the practical workshops. The teaching accommodates all types of learning styles so that you can grasp new information and skills and apply this learning within your practice. The amount of material covered in the classroom, plus the input from Diane and her assistants throughout the course far outweighs the cost of course. “
What is the value of the online video and article support for each part of this class?
““It’s amazing how much work went into putting together a video library of this quality. It’s very helpful to watch and have ongoing access to all the videos Diane and her team created. I watched them all before class, and then tried techniques on patients before showing up to learn them in person, as this helped me formulate what questions I may have and what I still need to make sense of. I would also go back to the videos over the notes to revisit the technique learned and clarify details of performing them correctly (whether it is an assessment skill or treatment). They were very helpful to review right before seeing a patient that would fit the profile of the technique aimed to assess or treat a patient’s specific problem.”
“I have not read that many articles in a long time, but they were recent, relevant and made me think differently. I chose to do a deeper dive on scapular muscles. I am still refining what we covered, and there is plenty to go back through. Set aside enough time ! You get out of this what you put into it, so be sure to read and process. There were so many “ah ha” moments I am really a different clinician. “
“I couldn’t ask for any more online videos and articles, which are there to support the in-class learning. For areas that were new to me (like the cranium), having the videos before the course was really helpful, especially as I am a visual learner. They were also great for referring back to during the course to reinforce learning. I have referred back to the videos countless times since finishing the course. In particular, the videos demonstrating treatments and progressing motor control. I am continuing with my clinical development using the online materials 6 months after I finished the course. I certainly do not feel like I need to be going on any other course for professional development for a very long time as I continue to integrate the ISM Flow into my practice.”
Do you find the ISM Flow course of value since completing the ISM Series?
“The ISM Flow online course pulls techniques from various sections of the ISM Series and does a highlight reel of what you need to focus on when practicing ISM.”
“The “flow ” is a part of the online that gives so much perspective. It outlines concepts and techniques for prior reading, and later review. I’m still considering material on the foot. Love it!”
I’m curious do you ever go back to look at something there for help?
Yes!! I regularly refer back to the ISM Flow.
Did you find the cohort forum and the daily/weekly support it provided between the in class parts helpful for your clinical reasoning and integration of ISM into YOUR practice?
“The forum facilitated clinical reasoning and also encouraged communal learning as well as gave us a sense of ownership over the case presented. Peer questions and feedback, learning from their reasoning and the guidance of the facilitators were all very valuable.”
“After 6 months, I am developing my own “flow”. It took quite a while to put it all together, and watching others cases in the online discussions helped pull together the larger concept. Spoiler alert : here’s how to find the distant parts of the body that are causing the pain or dysfunction. It needs to be a big course. The discussions got me thinking. We had a fantastic group of seasoned clinicians willing to put aside egos and learn and thoughtfully challenge each other. I could not have asked for better.”
“Reading through other clinicians CRF was sometimes quite tricky, but it actually made me clinically reason better and stop over-complicating the Flow. The support from my peers was great. Feedback was always constructive and supportive rather than critical.”
