TAKE THIS COURSE Record of Completion Available

This 8 hour online lecture course will introduce the functional interplay between the thorax & lumbopelvic-hip region and how the Integrated Systems Model can facilitate the understanding and interpretation of each patient’s unique clinical picture.

There are two lectures that highlight key components of the Integrated Systems Model and it’s Principles of Treatment and two lectures that illustrate how time, experience and evidence have changed paradigms with respect to the Pelvic Girdle and the Thorax. In addition, there are two case reports where you will see how the Integrated Systems Model is used to facilitate both assessment, interpretation of findings and subsequent treatment planning. In total, this course has approximately 8 hours of online viewing.

  4. Thorax & Pelvis

    5

This was a great course and a really interesting approach to organizing clinical reasoning and treatment planning. I originally heard about Diane and ISM from one of my clinical instructors, when I was a student, and was immediately interested in the philosophy and the approach to assessment and treatment. Once I finished school, I took some time to develop my hands-on skills and gain some clinical experience, before pursuing ISM in great detail. I am very glad that I waited (and would recommend giving yourself some time to hone in on your palpation and tactile senses before taking the course) as I think I have a much better appreciation for what was discussed and can utilize the tools and information provided more effectively. I still have a lot to learn but this was a great introduction into ISM and I feel more capable in taking the next step forward and integrating this knowledge into my practice. I am looking forward to taking future courses and learning more from DIane. Thank you!!

I am grateful for having this chance to learn from Diane!
What I really like about this course is the combination of clinical evidence and experience. Highly recommended!

  6. The Missing Link in Clinical Reasoning & Treatment

    5

This course was the missing piece I was looking for as a physiotherapist in three main areas: 1) How to effectively assess and treat the thoracic spine, which is an area that does not receive a lot of attention in PT training and education; 2) How to connect different areas of the body and see the interconnection between malalignments/pain/dysfunction/past injuries and their relation to current patient concerns; and finally 3) How to determine the PRIMARY DRIVER of a patient’s current pain and dysfunction. I think many physiotherapists have had the experience of treating a patient’s painful area but knowing that we were not really on the “right part of the body” to get to the root of their problem. Even when moving on to possible related malalignments or sub-optimal movement patterns, it’s often hard to know where to start or even whether other things are connected to the current problem. Diane’s course really teaches how to clinically reason systematically and methodically, and then how to identify what is the primary driver of dysfunction and where we should start our treatment with the patient. I wish this clinical reasoning approach were taught in all PT curriculums across Canada.

  7. Diagnostic approach

    5

Diane Lee’s diagnostic approach is incredibly beneficial in identifying primary, secondary, and tertiary drivers as well as taking the biopsychosocial model into consideration.

  8. more practical components

    4

Thanks Diane! This was a great introduction to the wonderful work that you do. The one thing I think I would have liked to see more of, would be the practical components or some of the labs – realizing that the best option is to be there in person. I found that I had a few holes in the application of the module.

  9. amazing

    5

I have learned a lot from the course! although some of the video clips from the first female attendee has missed a few technique practice, only the video. I hope I can learn more techniques about how to differentiate the ribs.

  10. Great introduction!

    5

The course was a great introduction to the concept of ISM and a good visual for the Thorax and Pelvic Girdle books. Much appreciated Diane!

  11. Wonderful

    5

Really great course. I appreciate Diane Lee’s teaching style. She makes learning this material fun and she manages to get her concepts across clearly. I highly recommend taking the time to watch this course. I’m looking forward to a second viewing in the future to hopefully absorb this material on another level.

    Incredible Material

  14. Thank you. Amaizing course

    5

    Thank you.
I felt a lot of excitement while approaching and worrying about problems that were not solved in the clinic. Why did not I think about the ribs with lots of muscle? Naturally, it will affect the pelvis and the trunk …
I’m still not enough, but I will continue to study.
I bought a pelvic girdle and a The thoracix book. If you have the opportunity, I would also like to attend offline training.

  15. The Thorax and Pelvis: Inspiring

    5

Thanks Diane for making this course freely available to us. You have inspired me, and possibly rescued me from the brink of retiring from physiotherapy. Your enthusiasm for our profession is contagious and I realise after undertaking this course just how much I still have to give, and how well poised as physiotherapists we are to give unique, patient centred education, to the people we work with. Namaste.

  16. Thorax and pelvis

Great info, love the patient examples.

  17. Fantastic

    5

Highly recommend to any therapist as ISM is a new way of organizing your thoughts and assessment tools. It has provided me with many new tips and tricks, educated me on the importance of getting our patients to be really active in their own treatment and helping them to understand their own bodies better. I have already integrated my new knowledge into practice and am getting great results! Thanks Diane! I am taking the live ISM Series next year and cannot wait to learn more from Diane Lee.
